WEST POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 15, 2015) -- U.S. Military Academy at West Point women's basketball senior guard Cadet Kelsey Minato was named Patriot League Player of the Week for the second week in a row, while also earning recognition as the College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week the league announced, Dec. 14.

The Patriot League Player of the Week honor is Minato's third of the season and the 14th of her career.

Minato scored a season-high 30 points, while tying her own team three-point record in Army's 74-35 victory at St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 8. Minato shot 11-of-18 from the floor and went 8-of-13 from beyond the arc to mark her third career game with eight three-pointers, and her first this season. She also added five boards, two assists and two steals in the victory.

Minato followed up that performance with a 22-point effort that moved her above the 2,000-career-point mark during the Black Knights' 71-35 win at NJIT. She reached the milestone with a three-pointer that came 1:29 into the contest before elevating her career total to 2,019 points by the end of the game. Minato went 7-of-13 from the field and shot 5-of-10 from three-point range, while matching her career high with four steals.

A native of Huntington Beach, Calif., Minato currently averages a Patriot League-best 22.9 points per game, to rank 10th nationally, and is just one of four active players in Division I to have at least 2,000 career points. Additionally, Minato lists eighth nationally in three-pointers per game (3.33.)

Army (8-1) is off to its best start to a season since beginning 10-1 in 2000-01 and has now put together a winning streak of at least five games for the 12th time under 10th-year head coach Dave Magarity. The Black Knights finish out their regular-season non-league schedule Dec. 19, when they host Emerson at 1 p.m.
