An instrumental leader and mentor in computers and technology, Corpus Christi Army Depot's (CCAD) Information Technology (IT) Operations and Systems Division Chief, Trent Moore retires with 34 years of civilian service, December 24, 2015.

Moore supervises and oversees all services for CCAD's Operations and Systems Support Division, which includes the planning, testing and execution of all command, control, communications, computers and information management (C4IM) services.

"Trent will leave behind a great legacy of encouragement, achievement and work ethic that will always be part of the directorate," said Director of IT Operations, Connie Salas.

"Trent's pursuit of innovative computing technologies while providing guidance and empowerment to his employees contributed to the improvement of IT operational effectiveness and efficiency. Through his efforts, the successful IT strategies employed at the Corpus Christi Army Depot have been recognized as an example of best business practices for the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC)."

Trent Moore started his career at the Depot in 1982 as a physical science technician. During his 34 years here, he advanced through several maintenance and operations positions, giving him CCAD-expertise as a journeyman instrument mechanic, senior management analyst, IT senior systems administrator, and supervisory IT policy planner.

He was instrumental in providing oversight, architectural design, testing and implementation for numerous IT projects and services that continue to shape depot operations to meet the goals of Army 2025. Some of his projects include a newly remodeled data center, an enterprise backup solution, a zero client initiative, a server hardware virtualization, a disaster recovery site and a mirror site startup.

Moore's certifications made him an expert in his field and a mentor to those seeking professional development. His certifications added capabilities to the IT department and inspired the rest of the team to endeavor for more.

This past May, he and his team were recognized by AMC's Commanding General Dennia Via, with four-star notes for the development of the Depot Production Support Tool application in CCAD's SharePoint.

In 2011, Moore was selected as an Outstanding Department of Defense Employee and Service Member with a Disability. "I'm very honored," Moore said. "It's just nice that CCAD has reached out and given (disabled folks) opportunities. We can do what everyone else does. We may not do it the same way, but we can do it."

Moore was only a teenager when he was paralyzed from the neck down after he broke his neck in a wrestling match. He regained some use in his arms and legs with extensive physical therapy, but most today he's known by most to zip by on his scooter.

Not long after his injury, Moore pursued a degree in computer science and then got a job with CCAD.

A short retirement ceremony was held Monday, December 14 in CCAD's Cribbins Room.

His departing words to his friends and co-workers:

Everyone,

After 34 years, the time has come for me to retire and move into the next chapter of my life. It has been my distinct pleasure, honor, and privilege to have worked with each and every one of you. Your knowledge, expertise, patience, fortitude and professionalism have been greatly appreciated. I wish you all the very best in your professional and personal pursuits.

In addition, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for all the kindness you have shown me and for all the sacrifices you have made in support of our Army and our Army Families. Remember, you're only as good as the people who work for you. It's been a pleasure working here.

Thanks to you all! Go Horns!
