DAEGU, SOUTH KOREA--Soldiers and families from the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command joined together to recognize the 2015 Combined Logistics Excellence Award winners at the Camp Henry Post Theater, here.
This years Combined Logistics Excellence Award, also known as the CLEA, encompasses all logistic level operations to include food service, maintenance and supply operations support. Logistics practitioners from "Team 19," were on the receiving end of these elite awards.
The first award that was presented was the Philip A. Connely, Army Food Service Award to the Sustainer Grill Dining Facility, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. The Philip A. Connely Army Food Service Award is the premier award for food service technicians across our Army. The objective of this program is to promote and improve Army food service through awareness, incentives, competition and media attention. The Philip A. Connelly Award was designed to encourage and recognize deserving units for superb performance in the realm of food service.
"I had no idea my team was going to receive this award today. My guys worked so hard for this achievement and it paid off greatly," said Sgt. 1st Class Marcell Carlton, Dining Facility Manager for the Sustainer Grill here on Camp Henry.
"We trained constantly as a team for this competition. The 8th Army award is a great accomplishment but we have the greatest challenge coming up in February and that's the Department of the Army level Philip A. Connely competition," he said.
The next award that was presented was the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence. The Army Award for Maintenance Excellence was established in 1982 by the Department of the Army to recognize exceptional accomplishment in Maintenance and provide added incentive to the competitive programs of Major Army Commands. The award winners were chosen based off of their high level of expertise and professionalism in maintenance operations.
The fiscal year 2015 winner of the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence for the small Modification table of organization and equipment (MTOE) was the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 94th Military Police Company. The HHD, 94TH MP Company maintained a 98% operational readiness rating which well exceeded the Department of the Army's Goal of 90%.
In the Medium Modification table of organization and equipment (MTOE) competition, the 557th Military Police Company took the award with a 98% operational readiness rating which also exceeded the Department of the Army Goal of 90%.
In the Table of Organization and Equipment (TOE), the Materiel Support Command-Korea (MSCK), received the maintenance excellence award for maintaining high readiness rates of tactical, non-tactical, and material handling equipment critical to the unit's mission as they provided support throughout the peninsula.
In all other categories the Busan Storage Center and the 7th Heavy Equipment Transport Korean Service Corps Company, received a maintenance excellence award for maintaining a 99% operational readiness rating and excellence in maintenance operations.
The next award category was the Army Supply Excellence Award.
The Army Supply Excellence Award was conceived during the total Army Worldwide Supply Conference held in November of 1984. The objectives of the Supply Excellence Award are to enhance readiness of all Army units and enhance the command supply discipline program.
This year's winner of the fiscal year 2015 Supply Excellence Award, Level I, is the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 176th Finance Management Support Unit. The 176th achieved an outstanding supply management rating of over 95%. The 176th was awarded for displaying a high level of expertise in providing a management tool for supply excellence and enhancing readiness of Army units.
The Level II, Modification table of organization and equipment (MTOE), FY2015 Supply Excellence Award winner, was the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 6th Ordnance Battalion for achieving a supply management rating of over 95% on property book accountability, responsibility, management of Government Purchase Cards, and the maintenance of all required publications.
The Level IV Modification table of organization and equipment (MTOE), fiscal year 2015 Supply Excellence Award winner, was the 348th Quartermaster Company, for achieving a supply management rating of over 95% on inventory and retrograde accountability, performance, command supply discipline program and files management.
In the Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA), the Busan Storage Center and Materiel Sustainment Command-Korea, achieved an outstanding supply management rating of over 95% and on property book accountability, responsibility, management of Government Purchase Cards, and publications organization.
In the Level IV Table of Distribution and Allowances, the 498th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, achieved a supply management rating of over 98% on inventory and retrograde accountability, overall performance, command supply discipline program and files management.
Presiding over the ceremony was Maj. General David W. Puster, Deputy Commanding General-Sustainment with the Eighth United States Army. Maj. Gen. Puster rendered words of encouragement and perseverance to the winners, competitors and runner ups in the competition.
Brig. Gen. John P. Sullivan, the commander of the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, congratulated the maintainers and command teams for their efforts and emphasis on excellence. Sullivan thanked the Soldiers and their families for their professionalism and undying dedication to the "TEAM 19" family.
