The accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to Guthrie Ambulatory Healthcare Clinic (GAHC) Laboratory Services, Fort Drum, New York based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP's Accreditation Programs 10 November 2015.

The facility's director, Jason K. Burris, MD, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. GAHC Laboratory Services is one of more than 7,700 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

"This wonderful achievement is a culmination of the dedication of Ms. Tina Allen, our laboratory manager and her team of intelligent and hard-working technicians. I commend and thank them all for their effort to Guthrie Ambulatory Healthcare Clinic and the Soldiers of Fort Drum," said Dr. Burris.

"The inspector was genuinely impressed by Ms. Tina Allen and her entire team's diligence in maintaining the highest of standards," said Col. John McMurray, Commander Fort Drum MEDDAC. "The honors are a testament not only of their professionalism, but of the pride they take in supporting the readiness of the 10th Mountain Division."

"Our Mission is to provide high quality Laboratory results maximizing our provider's knowledge, Soldier medical readiness and the best care for all our patients," said Allen, laboratory chief. "Our vision is to be the Laboratory of choice for our beneficiaries because we share the military culture and values, helping our patients receive the care they deserve."

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government's own inspection program.

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
