CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea -- Not everyone can lay claim to the title "Best in the Pacific;" the Antiterrorism Office here can.
Installation Management Command -- Pacific recently recognized the Antiterrorism Office of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) for having the Best Antiterrorism Program in Category B for fiscal year 2015. In addition, the garrison's James Price has been selected as the Best Antiterrorism Program Manager and Honor Roll awardee.
Col. Joseph C. Holland, garrison commander for U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys praised Price after learning of the selection.
"Mr. Price is a consummate professional who works within a tight-knit group of responsive team members to ensure that our garrison and Area III are ready to fight tonight," Holland said.
Price has improved on his second place finish in 2014 in both the Installation Program and Program Manager competitions and repeated his Honor Roll selection in 2015. His hard work paid off and earned him an invitation to the All-Army Antiterrorism Conference in Orlando, Florida.
When asked helped the garrison's program stand out, Price said a key factor was communicating with the Humphreys community.
"We added another exercise this year and really worked to integrate our messaging to the community" Price said.
This selection comes from competition among all garrison AT programs within the Pacific Region to include Korea, Japan, Kwajalein, Hawaii and Alaska.
"This award is representative of the collaboration within our garrison to support the mission units in Area III. We will continue to instill this effort across our team in support of the community" said Holland.
The judging was based on standardized submission packets from all installations and managers with their Garrison Commander's recommendation. Separate submissions are required for each category.
While most can point to a sign or banner here that reminds us to report suspicious activity or to be aware of our surroundings that is just a small part of what the AT office does.
A large part of the program happens behind the scenes from coordinating reporting between Korean emergency service providers and installation services to facilitating Joint Fusion Intelligence Cell meetings between Osan Airbase and Camp Humphreys security personnel. All of this while collecting, consolidating and disseminating AT information from across the peninsula to keep the Camp Humphreys community safe and informed.
"This award really belongs to everyone, I could not do my job without everyone in DPTMS and the garrison's help and support" said Price.
With this selection, both the Program and Program Manager awardees move forward to compete at the IMCOM level and finally at the Department of the Army level if successful.
