ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - The 1st Area Medical Laboratory welcomed its new senior enlisted leader during a change of responsibility here Dec. 4.

Col. Laura Elliott, commander, 1st AML, presided over the event as Command Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Petty passed the colors of 1st AML on to Command Sgt. Maj. David Doubek.

As Command Sgt. Maj. for 1st AML, Doubek serves as the command's senior enlisted advisor on matters relating to operations, training, morale and welfare of the laboratory's teams.

Doubek thanked his previous leaders and soldiers that helped mold him into the Soldier he is today.

During Petty's time at Command Sgt. Maj. he helped guide 1st AML through the unit's deployment to Liberia leading six Ebola testing laboratories, and helping to build infrastructure through Ebola Treatment Units, labs and healthcare worker training.

Petty now heads to Ireland Army Community Hospital, Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he will be the command sergeant major.
