CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea -- The Logistics Readiness Center-Humphreys' Central Issue Facility recently closed for several days to conduct an annual 100 percent inventory.

The CIF provides Organization Clothing and Individual Equipment and Individual Protective Equipment to approximately 10,000 customers including Soldiers and emergency essential/mission essential civilians assigned to Camp Humphreys.

"It will take 14 days to complete inventory," said John Jones, CIF manager. "This often includes weekends back in the states, but we will work hard daily in order to get it done during normal work weeks."

"It's a huge process which takes up an enormous amount of man hours and stops Soldiers in their tracks as far as equipment draws," said Tony Wilcher, operations officer.

He also explained that the CIF is trying to mitigate confusion by pushing out this information to all affected units. This also allows units to plan ahead to coordinate the pickup and drop off of CIF/OCIE supplies and equipment.

"The process is tedious, but necessary and required," said Jones. "Inventory is mandated per Army regulation."

Jones and his team have nearly 6,000 items to inventory plus an additional $9.9 million of inventory that has not yet been issued.

In the near future, the number of CIF customers at Camp Humphreys will triple in size making the CIF the largest in Korea. As the size of the facility grows and manpower increases, the CIF will eventually do concurrent operations with the issuance and turn in of OCIE and IPE all day long.
