NEW KABUL COMPOUND, Afghanistan (Nov. 11, 2015) -- Soldiers and civilians from the 925th Contracting Battalion and Regional Contracting Center-Capital uncased their colors during a ceremony at the conference center here.

The ceremony signifies the beginning of the battalion's year-long deployment in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel.

Lt. Col. Wyeth S. Anderson, 925th CBN commander, and Sgt. Maj. Rachelle Hairston, battalion sergeant major, uncased the unit's colors. Brig. Gen. David W. Maxwell, deputy chief of staff Support CJ4, Headquarters Resolute Support, Kabul presided over the ceremony.

"On this Veterans Day, as we express our gratitude to those who serve with us and those who served before us, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them," Anderson said.

He congratulated the battalion's Soldiers on their outstanding reputation and highlighted the importance of the current mission.

"It took a lot of hard work by a lot of great people to establish Expeditionary Contracting Command-Afghanistan and to begin manning it through unit-based, rather than individual deployments," he said. "Because of this we are deployed with our aligned division, the 10th Mountain Division, and we are fighting as we trained.

"To the members of the 925th CBN and RCC-Capital, you have already built a reputation as being efficient and effective," he continued. "Thank you for that. From here we will continue to build our relationships with our (U.S. Forces-Afghanistan) and (Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan) partners and ensure this momentum continues through our deployment. Our work is pivotal to ensure the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces are able to sustain and expand their capabilities and also to assist the government of Afghanistan develop its resource management capabilities and rule of law."

The 925th CBN deployed from Fort Drum, New York, to Kabul in October. Its mission is to support USFOR-A units in the Kabul Base Cluster and CSTC-A. The 925th consists of its headquarters based out of Fort Drum, the 611th Contracting Team from Fort Stewart, Georgia, and the 1956th Contracting Team from the Texas Army National Guard in Austin.
