There are several Fellowship programs that are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to, an area of DOD interest within one of fifteen disciplines:

* Civil Engineering

* Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences

* Computer and Computational Sciences

* Electrical Engineering

* Geosciences

* Materials Science and Engineering

* Mathematics

* Mechanical Engineering

* Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

* Oceanography

* Physics

Fellows work closely with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, or ARL, and the Army Research Office, or ARO, on cutting edge research with access to world-class scientific facilities.
