TAPA, Estonia -- Estonian soldiers secure bridge sections across a river in Tapa, Estonia, Nov. 11, in joint exercise to test their bridging capabilities as well as provide a platform for interoperability between Estonian and U.S. forces.

"The Estonian military recently acquired these 35-ton bridges, and since we don't have engineer assets in country, this was a prime opportunity for interoperability between the Estonian systems and U.S. systems. They are putting the bridges down over this river and they are testing whether their vehicles and our Bradleys can cross the bridge and ensure that their systems can support our vehicles," said Capt. Eric Flynn, native of Mesa, Ariz., and commander of Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.

Exercises like the bridge crossing are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
