GRAFENWOEHR, Germany - An enthusiastic audience of Soldiers, leaders, Family members, friends and well-wishers welcomed four enlisted leaders into the prestigious Sergeant Morales Club during a dynamic ceremony held Nov. 12 at the Tower Barracks Theater.
Command Sgt. Maj. Rodney Rhoades, the senior enlisted leader of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command and himself an honorary Morales Club member, presided over the ceremony and served as guest speaker.
Staff Sgt. Christopher Lynch of the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, part of the 21st TSC's 16th Sustainment Brigade; Sgt. Trevor J. Dodds of the 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command; and Sgt. Phillip J. Smith, a military policeman serving with the 615th Military Police Company, 709th MP Battalion, part of the TSC's 18th MP Brigade, were inducted into the Sergeant Morales Club by organizational leaders.
Family members joined the inductees, Rhoades and organizational leaders for the individual inductions.
Command Sgt. Maj. Michael R. Weatherholt, the 709th MP Battalion command sergeant major, was inducted into the club as an honorary member for outstanding leadership and community service.
Rhoades praised Weatherholt's personal qualities, performance and leadership during the honorary induction.
"He is the best command sergeant major in the 21st TSC," Rhoades said of Weatherholt, noting that, "He and his commander have the most challenging mission" in the area and accomplished it extraordinarily well. The widely dispersed organization confronted significant challenges and transition during Weatherholt's tenure.
In addition to the Morales Club inductions, Mrs. Amelia Drummond was awarded the Dr. Mary E. Walker Award for "outstanding dedication and exemplary active volunteerism to the unit or military community." Drummond received a certificate, the Dr. Mary E. Walker medallion and flowers from the Soldiers of the 18th MP Brigade, where she served.
The inductees, who joined the club after a rigorous and lengthy apprenticeship including study, community service and a series of military boards demonstrating knowledge of a wide range of Soldier skills, Army programs and activities, were awarded an organizational certificate, the Army Commendation Medal, the Sergeant Morales Club medallion and a 21st TSC coin. The organization promotes strong character, enlisted leadership and community service.
"The medallion around their neck shows that they stepped forward to be recognized as the best of the best," Rhoades said during his remarks.
