WEST POINT, N.Y. (October 29, 2015) - Admit it, there have been many times when you've thought to yourself "It would be so much better if the Army would do it this way…" or, "I really want to tell Army leadership what I think of this…"
The Army Family Action Plan is your opportunity to share your suggestions and give input on what is important and can improve quality of life in our community and the Army.
AFAP is an Army-wide initiative that gives you the opportunity to share suggestions in order to improve the overall quality of life for Soldiers, Civilians and their Families. This process begins at the installation level. Issues are submitted throughout the year and are forwarded to the U.S. Army Garrison West Point Commander's AFAP Steering Committee, where community members discuss the issues and identify the ones that should be addressed by leadership.
We are currently seeking suggestions for quality of life improvements from members of the West Point Community. It's easy to submit a recommendation and it can even be done anonymously. Visit www.westpointmwr.com/afap.htm and click on the "Submit" button, email your issue to Jennifer.partridge@usma.edu., or submit your issues using www.myarmyonesource.com and click on the AFAP Issue Management icon on the home page.
Department of the Army level Issues that are submitted by December 1, will considered by the Garrison Commander for submission for the FY16 cycle for DA consideration.
Our community and the Army have experienced several significant improvements to quality of life thanks to the AFAP program. Examples of local issues are the opening of the Boundless Playground for special needs family members along Washington Road, the paved sidewalk on Delafield Road, the Modified Sports Program for youth, Recreational Paintball, Student Ambassador Program for Middle School Students and the opening of the Lee Child Development Center which expanded hourly and CYSS program offerings. Army-wide changes include a service member's ability to transfer the GI Bill to his/her dependents and the implementation of military spouse hiring preference in the federal government.
If you have any questions, would like to submit an issue or find out more about the AFAP process, please contact Jennifer Partridge, AFAP Program Manager at (845) 938-3655 or Jennifer.partridge@usma.edu.
