Fort Huachuca, Arizona - All Hallows Eve is nearly here, and soon ghosts and goblins will take to the streets of Fort Huachuca to scare up as many treats as possible. On-post trick or treating hours are 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 for children under 12. Those 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Fire Station 2, Building 68382, at the intersection of Irwin and Squier across from the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre, will help Families get into the Halloween spirit and safety mindset 3-6 p.m. Oct. 31. They will have a static display, a bouncy castle, games for prizes and costumed firefighters on hand with safety items for children to use while trick-or-treating. These include small lights, glow sticks and more to make youth more visible after dark and help keep them safe.

Firefighters at Station 2 are also accepting non-perishable foods for donation to the Chaplain's Food Locker. Families are welcome to donate items which feed military Families in need.

For more information on fire department activities, call 520.533.2116.

Current access requirements for the installation remain in effect. Adults 18 and older will need a military-issued ID card such as an active duty, retiree or Gold Star Family ID or a Common Access Card. Individuals over the age of 18 who do not possess one of these forms of identification will need to have a background check at the Van Deman Gate and obtain a visitor access badge. Additionally, all motor vehicle operators must have in their possession a valid driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.

Current gate hours remain in effect on Halloween. The Buffalo Soldier Gate will be closed and the Van Deman Gate is open 24 hours.

Access-control personnel must be able to identify those entering the installation, therefore, do not wear a costume with a mask or excessive makeup. Plan to add masks or apply makeup after entering Fort Huachuca.

Directorate of Emergency Services personnel remind trick-or-treaters to use discretion. Avoid costumes with replica knives, guns or swords.

On Halloween, wear clothing with reflectors, carry a flashlight and continually be aware of surroundings, particularly when crossing roadways.

Police presence will be increased in the housing areas. Officers will patrol on foot, bicycles and in military police vehicles. Those who need assistance should make direct contact with these officers or call the Military Police Desk at 520.533.3000. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

Curfew hours remain in effect on Fort Huachuca for Halloween. Youth, 17 and under, must be with a parent, guardian or custodian between the established curfew hours: 10 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and midnight-5 a.m. Friday-Saturday. The exception is if youth possess a curfew permit, Fort Huachuca Form 190-R-E. Copies can be obtained at the Military Police Station, Building 22336, or the Youth Activities Center, Building 49013. The form must clearly state why the youth requires an exception to the curfew policy, be signed by a parent, guardian or custodian and be in the juvenile's possession.

The Fort Huachuca Military Police will detain and cite those violating the curfew. If this happens, a parent will be required to sign for their Family member at the Military Police Station.

Enjoy the fun that Halloween brings. Working together, everyone can help make Fort Huachuca a safe haven for trick-or-treaters on Oct. 31.
