DALLAS - More than 30 Soldiers with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division reaffirmed the Oath of Enlistment during a reenlist ceremony at AT&T Stadium here Oct. 21.

"I decided that the Army is the best decision right now for myself and my family," said Staff Sgt. Alex Segura, a native of Fort Sumner, New Mexico and a senior resources noncommissioned officer with 2-7 Cav. "The Army is really not going away, and if they see potential in me, then it's a no-brainer."

In what started off just as a handful of Soldiers travelling to Dallas to reenlist in a small ceremony, soon bloomed into a much larger group.

Troopers received a VIP tour during their visit and later stood in the middle of the field to reenlist as a group, rather than performing individual ceremonies back at Fort Hood where the unit is based.

Segura, who was recently selected to be promoted to sergeant first class, said the experience was a memorable one.

"This was really unexpected," said Segura. "I've been here for almost three-and-a-half years, and I've never been up there [at the stadium]. Being able to tour it was pretty nice."
