JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - The 7th Infantry Division held a promotion ceremony Sept. 28 for the unit's deputy commanding general for operations. Col. Antonio A. Aguto Jr. promoted to brigadier general in a ceremony held at the American Lake Conference Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Guest speaker Gen. David Perkins, commander, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine, presided over the ceremony.

Prior to his current assignment, Aguto worked at TRADOC as both the Chief of Staff, Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and the executive officer to the commanding general, Fort Eustis, Va.

Aguto will assume command of the 7th Infantry Division element deployed to Train, Advise, Assist Command - South, in Afghanistan.
