WEST POINT, N.Y. (October 9, 2015) - U.S. Army Garrison West Point partners with Col. Denton Knapp, Training and Doctrine Command liaison officer to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and holds the second annual "Out of the Darkness" walk sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Sept. 26.

Nearly 200 community members, cadets, faculty and garrison staff participated in the three-mile walk from Daly Field to Thayer Gate and back. Every year, suicide claims more lives than war, murder and natural disasters combined. This walk is not only a way to increase suicide awareness and prevention, but also for the community to remember loved ones and change the conversation about mental health to prevent this tragic loss of life.
