REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.-- Top leaders from the Army Materiel Command and Installation Management Command gathered at Redstone Arsenal Sept. 29 to discuss the execution of services at IMCOM installations where AMC is the senior commander.
IMCOM integrates and delivers base support akin to that of a small city, which is integral to enabling readiness at Army communities worldwide, including Redstone Arsenal.
"Huntsville is a crown jewel," said Lt. Gen. David Halverson, IMCOM Commanding General. "We have a great community approach, and it's a really amazing place for our Army and planning for the future. It's very refreshing how teamwork can really solve some complex issues facing our Army, too," he added.
Halverson, who met with Gen. Dennis Via, AMC Commanding General, and Lt. Gen. Larry Wyche, AMC's Deputy Commanding General, said he relishes the partnership between AMC and other agencies on Redstone Arsenal. He added that he was particularly pleased to visit Redstone, as he was able to reconnect with partners and see progress first-hand.
"The best takeaway from this visit is that AMC and IMCOM together is an enterprise that delivers. There's really great innovation and brainpower here," Halverson said.
That credit goes to the men and women of Redstone Arsenal, the general said.
"It's totally amazing the great professional Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians and contractors here who make this a tremendous place. I'm very optimistic that in the future, we can partner more to ensure every dollar is brought in to maintain interdependency as a team. It's really important to foster our relationship, now and in the future," Halverson said.
Other IMCOM locations where AMC has top authority are Aberdeen Proving Ground and Adelphi Labs in Maryland; Detroit Arsenal in Michigan; Natick Soldier Systems Center in Massachusetts and Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois.
