Col. Shauna Snyder will represent Armed Forces Team USA at the sixth annual Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Games being held in Mungyeong, South Korea, October 2-11 2015.

She credits her father for her interest in the sport.

"I've been playing the game since I was 10 years-old," she said. "My father showed me that the game of golf would develop integrity, sportsmanship and patience and that's what I love the most. It's self-regulating and there's nothing else like it. It is truly an honor and quite humbling to be part of Team USA" she added.

Snyder is one of two women selected for the golf team. Her love of the game has also highlighted skills ?that transitioned into the workforce.

"The game of golf is one that requires strategy, precision and a great deal of mental focus," she said. "You can easily utilize these same skills in the Army on a daily basis and I personally use them to carry out the WTC's mission."

Col. Snyder is currently the Chief of Staff for the Army Warrior Transition Command (WTC) in Alexandria, Virginia. WTC's mission is to develop, coordinate and integrate the Army's Warrior Care and Transition Program (WCTP) for wounded, ill and injured Soldiers, Veterans and their Families or Caregivers to promote success in the force or civilian life.

This is Snyder's first appearance at the international level games. She has competed for the last four years as part of the All Army Golf team at the Armed Forces championship. During the last Military World Games, her teammate won the Team Gold title in Golf for the US women. Snyder hopes to contribute to retain that title in 2015.

The Games will feature more than 80 nations and 5,000 athletes from around the world.

The U.S. Armed Forces delegation will consist of more than 170 active duty athletes competing in 16 sports, including some of our Wounded Warriors competing in para-track and field and para-archery.

Founded in 1948, CISM is the second largest multisport organization in the world after the Olympics and the largest exclusively military organization of its kind in the world.

The United States joined CISM in 1951 and remains one of the most active nations within the 134 member-nation CISM organization.
