CAMERON, N.C. --Womack Army Medical Center opened Linden Oaks Medical Home during a ribbon cutting ceremony, Sept. 15. Linden Oaks Medical Home will serve active-duty military and their Family members.

The facility will deliver a common system of care that makes health care more consistent for military Families.

In addition to primary care, Linden Oaks Medical Home will provide immunization, pharmacy, laboratory and behavioral health services.

The site for the facility was chosen based on a detailed analysis by the U.S. Army Medical Command, showing a need for the Cameron community neighboring Fort Bragg.

"Community-based medical homes are the way healthcare should be -- patient-centered, team-based and quality-care focused. Patients are the critical members of that team," said Col. Ronald T. Stephens, WAMC commander.

Linden Oaks Medical Home will initially serve 3,000 Fort Bragg Family members with plans to eventually provide care for up to 8,000 beneficiaries.

"We recognize that military Families are unique. They uproot every few years, move to unfamiliar locations, make new ties, and learn to navigate the health care system. Linden Oaks will strive to ease that transition," said Desmond McMullan, group practice manager for the Department of Family Medicine.

"Every patient in the Linden Oaks Medical Home will have a team of providers and nurses who work with that patient to address health concerns as they arise, insure preventative health care screening, manage chronic health conditions and promote a feeling of health and wellness," added McMullan.

The ceremony concluded with a fly-over by the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, featuring two AH-64 Apache helicopters, followed by the Army Ground Forces Band and the Shughart Elementary School choir leading the audience in the Army song.
