USMA at West Point Cadet Earns Double Honors

DANBURY, Conn. (September 23, 2015) -- After being named the Patriot League Athlete of the Week Sept. 21, volleyball setter, and U.S. Military Academy at West Point Cadet, Vanessa Edwards has been voted the Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Sept. 23.

Edwards, a Sacramento, California native, leads the Patriot League in assists per set this season with 9.96. She had a hand in 150 points out of 187 by Army. Edwards tallied 14 individual points and was a part of 136 more through assists. She led the team in service aces against Stony Brook with three and led the team in digs against Columbia with 12.

At the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, she currently ranks 10th all-time in career assists with 1,779. Edwards was named to the All-Tournament team at the invite after recording three double-double performances. She amassed 136 assists in 11 sets to produce 12.36 assists per set.

Sept. 19 - 20, the Black Knights went 2-1 in the Sea Wolves Invitational with wins over Columbia (3-0) and Stony Brook (3-1). The Black Knights are in action again Sept. 25 when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y., for a matchup against Colgate at 6 p.m.
