Antiterrorism Awareness was flooded throughout the Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region/U.S. Army Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW) during the annual U.S. Army's Antiterrorism (AT) Month in August.
As part of the AT Awareness Month, the JFHQ-NCR/MDW Provost Marshal/Protection Directorate (PMPD) hosted the Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course from Aug. 3-7 at Fort Belvoir, Va. This course prepared AT Officers with the skills and knowledge needed to serve as advisors to commanders and provides AT Awareness training. There were more than 80 participants from all the services and various interagency partners from across the National Capital Region.
Across the command, PMPD placed AT Awareness information, an AT and Family Awareness Static Display to assist staff members and visitors identify and fight terrorism.
The events were all synchronized with the 6th annual U.S. Army's Antiterrorism Month. The four focus areas planned for this year are: recognizing and reporting suspicious activity, participating in antiterrorism training, countering insider threats and becoming familiar with the risks associated with the use of social media.
An important tool is the Army iWatch program that provides a person an online, anonymous outlet to report suspicious activity. https://iwatcharmy.org/index.html.
