IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Exercise Dragoon Crossing

Release number: 20150910-1

September 10, 2015

The 4th Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment will participate in Dragoon Crossing/Brave Warrior from Sep. 13 through Oct. 21, 2015.

Soldiers with 4th Squadron, 2CR will conduct a vehicle road march using Stryker Combat Vehicles and support vehicles from Rose Barracks, Germany through the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic, as part of a combined U.S. and Hungarian exercise ending in Hungary. This seven-day movement will involve the 4th Infantry Division Mission Command Element who will provide command and control to help synchronize the "Dragoon Crossing."

The 4th Squadron, 2nd CR, also known as Task Force Saber, will conduct a deliberate water crossing on Sep. 17th, with Hungarian forces just inside the Hungarian border. Paratroopers from the Vicenza, Italy-based 173rd Airborne Brigade will deploy on short-notice and conduct a parachute assault to secure the site to facilitate 2nd CR and allies crossing the bridge.

The parachute assault and subsequent crossing highlights U.S. Army Europe's ability to rapidly deploy airborne forces to set the conditions for success of follow-on forces.

The follow-up exercises will include range and situational training while demonstrating interoperability within Hungarian borders as a part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Dragoon Crossing presents an extraordinary opportunity to increase training readiness and integrate Allied capabilities while maintaining a constant display of interoperability.
