WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tickets are now available for the U.S. Army's Spirit of America performances. Spirit of America is a FREE two-hour show that uniquely combines traditional military ceremony with a large-scale theatrical production that showcases discipline, historical reenactments and traditional and modern music.

Join the U.S. Army in celebrating the spirit, strength and history of our nation with nine performances of Spirit of America scheduled across two weekends -- Sept. 10-12, at the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C., and Sept. 18-19, in Fairfax, Va., at the Eagle Bank Arena (formerly the Patriot Center).

Spirit of America, presented on behalf of the United States Army, is a fast-paced journey through American history that captures 240 years of Soldiers' stories -- true stories that span generations of men and women who have answered the call to uphold America's freedom and democracy, and helped shape America.

This patriotic live show is performed by a cast and crew of active-duty Soldiers, not actors, from The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).

"It is a show for all ages and I highly recommend this show for students in grades 5-12 and youth organizations," said Ron McLendon II, U.S. Army Military District of Washington community relation director. "Three shows are specially scheduled at 10:30 a.m. to accommodate field trips and group outings, and also matinee shows on Saturdays. A comprehensive educator's guide available online at www.spiritofamerica.mdw.army.mil and will be available at each performance."

Spirit of America performances are FREE and open to the public. For more information, and to order your tickets, visit www.spiritofamerica.mdw.army.mil or call 1-866-239-9425.
