ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- The depot graduated 13 individuals from its Depot Leadership and Management Program Aug. 14.
The four-week course trains future depot leaders through classroom instruction and real world experience. The latter is done through a shadowing program as students are paired with current depot leaders.
Depot Chief of Staff Phil Trued presented the certificates to each member of the class, saying he hoped the course would help them become better leaders.
According to participants, the lessons learned through DLAMP have already made an impact.
"Sometimes, when you work in a shop, you have tunnel vision," said Shannon Elston, a member of the DLAMP class. "This course opened my eyes."
Michael Burke, the depot deputy to the commander, also spoke to the class, saying the current and future supervisors would be key to improving the installation.
"I hope you take what you learned and use it to make this depot a better place," he told the class.
Following completion of the ANAD DLAMP course, students have one year in which to complete the next phase of their leadership training, a two-week Civilian Education System residency course in Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
