WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Students attending schools within the West Point Garrison and Community were awarded scholarships from the Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, Aug. 14.
Scholarships are awarded to children of active duty military members living in the West Point Balfour Beatty Community. All recipients must be a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student who is planning to attend or is already attending an accredited college, university or technical institution on a full-time basis.
Col. Landy Dunham, the U.S. Army Garrison West Point commander and Randolph Tucker, the Balfour Beatty Communities manager for West Point, presented Shona Neary- fine arts major, Fashion Institute of Technology; Nicole Drago- undecided major, Lehigh University; Madison Wooduff- business and enterprise management major, Wake Forest University; Benjamin Miller- business major, Liberty University; Dakota Sabotka- biomedical engineering major, Rochester Institute of Technology; John Drago- accounting or economics major, Lehigh University; Elizabeth Sobiesk- English/creative writing and political science majors, Bryn Mawr College and Isabelle Thompson- physical therapy major, Oregon State University their scholarships for the 2015-2016 school year. Not pictured is Julia Drago- biomedical engineering major, North Carolina State University.
Chris Williams, president of Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, said "On behalf of the Foundation, I would like to congratulate this year's hardworking and dedicated scholarship winners, We are proud to support all recipients and hope that with this assistance they are one step closer to fulfilling their educational pursuits and continuing to develop as leaders who will have a positive effect on their communities."
Since the scholarship program's inception in 2009, Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation has awarded more than 200 academic scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 with larger amounts granted for exceptional submissions.
