Jackson spent his entire childhood growing up on or around military installations. His father served in the Army for 26 years and three of his older siblings served in the military at some capacity. For the then 17 year-old Jackson, joining the Army was the only option he was aware of.
"I would like to think I have served as a good role model to younger Soldiers that look to me for guidance," Jackson said. "I truly believe in the section of the non-commissioned officers creed that states 'All Soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership, I will provide that leadership."
