WAHIAWA -- U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii's wildland firefighters battled a stubborn fire that filled Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa and nearby communities with a pall of smoke this week.
Black Hawks filled buckets with hundreds of galleons of water for repeated aerial assaults.
25th CAB personnel and equipment assisted the Federal Fire Department and state Department of Land and Natural Resources fire teams with water drops on adjacent state lands where the fires had spread into the Ewa Forest Reserve above Wahiawa.
The Army works in partnership with state and federal agencies and Honolulu Fire Department on wildland fires.
