WIESBADEN, Germany -- German Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Christian Milotat, German Bundeswehr or Armed Forces, and over ninety visitors from the Deutsch-Atlantische and Clausewitz Gesellschafts visited Army Europe, headquartered here, July 30.

The Deutsch-Atlantische and Clausewitz societies are committed to supporting transatlantic relations and the objectives of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in strengthening security policy. In an effort to increase transparency, Army Europe engages in public diplomacy outreach with various interest groups.

U.S. Army Europe's German Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, chief of staff, and Col. Bill Williams, deputy chief of staff, hosted the visitors and provided them with an excellent overview of USAREUR's support to NATO and to ensuring a Strong Europe.

USAREUR's intent was to familiarize our visitors with the overall headquarters, its mission, and its contributions to NATO.

Milotat and Laubenthal both expressed appreciation for the long standing relations that exist between the German people and the United States. They emphasized the great contributions made on behalf of both countries to collective defense and security policy in Europe.

USAREUR recently entertained similar groups to include a visit by parliamentarians from the Hessian State Parliament and student seminar groups such as the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
