SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE -- The 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery hosted a visit from the German Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Advisory team July 17.

The visit is intended to build partnership with our NATO allies, as well as share CBRN tactics, techniques and procedures in support of Patriot Air Defense operations.

All 5-52 ADA CBRN personnel participated in the event, which included visits to fire unit sites, a tour of the life support area, and lunch in the Spartan dining facility. The visit concluded with hands-on demonstrations of U.S. chemical defense equipment in the battalion conference room. The group also discussed similar German equipment and the way both nation's CBRN Corps are designed.

The visit provided a unique opportunity for the CBRN Specialists of the "Fighting Deuce" battalion.

Spc. Alfonso Capellan, CBRN specialist, Delta Btry. said, "It was cool to meet members of different country's military with the same job to see the similarities and differences of their tactics and equipment compared to ours."

A similar visit to the German site is planned in the coming weeks. Specialist Anthony Hoover, CBRN specialist, Headquarters and Headquarters Btry. said, "I look forward to visiting their site and having the opportunity to experience firsthand the tactics and strategies used in accomplishing their CBRN mission."
