CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait--The Legion of Merit was awarded to Col. Matthew J. Ferguson, 401st Army Field Support Brigade commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Wendy A. Robinson, 401st AFSB command sergeant major, during an awards ceremony presided over by Maj. Gen. Kevin G. O'Connell, Army Sustainment Command commanding general, here July 16.

Ferguson's award was presented in recognition of his leadership of the brigade through a highly successful theater retrograde effort to close out Operation Enduring Freedom, establishing Army Materiel Command support structure for the Resolute Support mission, and transition the command to Kuwait to become Army Materiel Command and Army Sustainment Command's single "face to the field" in support of the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility.

Robinson's award was presented in recognition of her role as the standard bearer for the brigade, her personal commitment to mission accomplishment that was integral to Army Materiel Command and Army Sustainment Command's sustained presence as the "face to the field" for the CENTCOM joint warfighter and her skills as a leader, logistician and alliance builder that had theater-wide impacts supporting Army, joint and coalition forces.

Ferguson's next assignment is with Army G4, Planning and Operations, and Robinson's next assignment is with U.S. Army Central Command G4, Logistics.
