FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (July 28, 2015) -- The purpose of this training was to reinforce the basic skill sets that come with advance rifle marksmanship, or ARM, and demolition instruction.

"Today's objectives was ARM, teaching ready up drills, and analyzing their ability to engage close targets at a rapid rate effectively," said 1st Lt. Jeremiah Longo, an rifle platoon leader with Company A, 1-26th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team Strike. "We also trained on demolition to see our ability to breach buildings and other obstacles."

"After this, we took the cumulative training of these objectives and put them into real life action as we work our way up to higher level live-fire exercise," added Longo.

The training helps to keep soldiers sharp and motivated.

"I'm excited about my Soldiers getting better at what they do," said Spc. Juan Pizarro, a team leader with Co. A, 1-26th Inf. Bn., 2nd BCT. "Even though it's really hot out here, we are still training to standard and building unit cohesion," continued Pizarro.

In the end, the goal is to create a Strike ready force that can't be matched.

"We want to create lethal fire teams and lethal units that are capable of combat in any environment," said Longo
