Automated entry provides cardholders ease of access

By Directorate of Emergency ServicesJuly 21, 2015

FORT BENNING, Ga., (July 22, 2015) -- The upgrade to Automated Installation Entry (AIE) 2+ has begun and is projected for operational testing July 24.

Operational testing is scheduled to begin late afternoon July 24. During this time the system will be used during nonpeak hours. Some delays may be incurred as everyone begins to adjust to using the system. This test period is imperative to ensure full functionally of the system while personnel are on site to assist with any problems that may occur.

For personnel with a CAC or military ID card, registration into the system is required in order for personnel to use the automated lanes. This new upgrade allows for in lane registration. During the test period guards will assist with in lane registration. This process will take about 16 seconds the first time a person uses the system. After that if you are registered, it only take two to three seconds to be scanned and granted access.

Please watch for the overhead display boards above each lane for directions and AIE lane usage. This is very important so that if a lane is being used for AIE, only personnel with a CAC or Military ID Card will be able to use that lane.

Personnel with a current AIE badge may be able to use AIE lanes, but until the upgrade is complete we are not sure if all the data will transfer, so we are recommending that those personnel continue to use nonAIE lanes until everything can be verified.

The upgrade will also add some additional features for visitors to Fort Benning, but all visitors will still be required to use the Visitor Center at the I-185 ACP prior to gaining access onto the Installation.
