BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Soldiers from U.S. Army Europe's 18th Military Police Brigade and

2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment worked together to find answers about a weapons cache

discovered near the Provincial Directorate of Police headquarters building here Nov. 5.

The 2nd SCR Soldiers searched a soccer field across from police headquarters and found two caches containing 10 120mm mortar rounds; 13 60mm mortar rounds; one hand grenade; 600 AK-47

rounds; 45 blocks of C4 plastic explosive; one rocketpropelled grenade; 4,000 PKC rounds; 10 82mm mortars and two sniper rifles.

The Iraqi police had no knowledge of the cache near the headquarters prior to its discovery. Not knowing who was responsible, a Baghdad police chief emphasized the importance of knowing about

everyone working near the headquarters. "We need to pay better attention in the future. The people who did this have no loyalty to their country," the chief said.

Multi-National Corps - Iraq officials said the operation that joined the two USAREUR

units and local police demonstrates the continued importance of Iraqi and coalition forces

working together to eliminate caches.
