REDSTONE ARSENAL -- Past and present leaders looked on as the Apache Project Office bid farewell to Lt. Col. Brian Stehle, product manager for the Apache Development and Modernization team.
Stehle relinquished his charter July 1 at a ceremony in Bob Jones Auditorium. Gordon Porter, the deputy product manager, will be the interim product manager until the next product manager is sworn in at a later date.
Stehle came to the Apache Project Office from the Technology Application Program Office in Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he managed Special Operations Aviation Helicopter Avionics Systems.
The Apache Development and Modernization Office supports the Apache Modernization Strategy by aligning itself with Department of Defense and other organizations to identify the limits and boundaries of the end focus and prioritize engagements to maximize assistance execution of the mission.
Col. Jeff Hager, Apache project manager, presided over the ceremony.
"You put your thumbprint on the aircraft that will remain forever," he told Stehle. Hager said Stehle "worked tirelessly through the challenges brought about by FOT&E (Follow On Test and Evaluation)."
Stehle thanked his team, the higher headquarters, team organizations, saying that he was "honored and even more humble to be a part of this organization." He also thanked his new bride and their family for standing by him.
Stehle received the Army Meritorious Service Medal during the ceremony.
