The U.S. Army Europe Band and Chorus performed at a German-American Friendship concert June 30 before an audience of over 1000 people at the Heidelberg Castle, Heidelberg, Germany.
The concert attracted citizens from City of Heidelberg, USAREUR staff, tourists and music lovers alike. The event lasted more two hours and included classical music arrangements performed by the band, as well as, the chorus singing modern hits from the 80s, 90s and today.
Buergermeister Wolfgang Erichson made opening remarks welcoming the USAREUR Band, Maj. Gen. Duane Gamble, Commanding General, 21st Theater Sustainment Command and Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, Chief of Staff, USAREUR back to Heidelberg.
Buergermeiter Erichson also thanked US Army Europe for the continued friendship and support for the city. Gamble, as the senior US Army Europe representative, commented on the unique "partnership" between the City of Heidelberg, the German people and the US Army in Europe. He also took the opportunity to emphasize the role US Army Europe plays in supporting NATO and ensuring peace throughout Europe.
