NEW ORLEANS (June 30, 2015) -- A member of the Army's acquisition corps was recognized for his work with the Joint Force Command-United Assistance Fiscal Triad Team, during an annual conference of the American Society of Military Comptrollers May 28, 2015, in New Orleans.

Lt. Col. Robert McDonald Jr. the 922nd Contracting Battalion commander at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was part of the Joint Force Command-United Assistance Fiscal Triad Team, representing the contracting community's efforts in tandem with the other members of the fiscal triad supporting Operation United Assistance.

The team received this year's award in the large team achievement category. The fiscal triad team is comprised of Army resource managers, finance, and contracting professionals.

The fiscal triad's concerted efforts played an integral role throughout Operation United Assistance and significantly contributed to the its success, said American Society of Military Comptrollers officials. Early in the operation, triad officials worked to coordinate airport runway repairs to facilitate much needed supplies entering into Liberia. Additionally, prudent management of the logistics civil augmentation program provided basic life support for the 2,800 OUA service members and civilians in Liberia. The program also built the Ebola treatment units, which medical professionals used to treat affected patients in Liberia.

In addition, more than 200 contracts worth more than $8 million were awarded and played an essential role in the redeployment phase of the operation. The fiscal triad team's efforts facilitated the transporting and warehousing of equipment, which ultimately allowed 90 percent of OUA personnel to quickly redeploy upon the mission's completion.

"It is an honor to have been a member of the fiscal triad team that was recognized by the Society of Military Comptrollers," McDonald said. "This award acknowledged the amazing effort and effective collaboration of the fiscal triad in the sustainment of our forces and completion of Operation United Assistance's mission, to provide humanitarian relief to Liberia in response to the Ebola pandemic. I couldn't be more proud of all the contracting professional's efforts, which significantly contributed to the mission's successful outcome."

The 922nd CBN is part of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The MICC is responsible for providing contracting support for the warfighter at Army commands, installations and activities located throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico. In fiscal 2014, the command executed more than 37,000 contract actions worth more than $5.6 billion across the Army. The command also managed more than 633,000 Government Purchase Card Program transactions in fiscal 2014 valued at an additional $783 million.
