NOVO SELO TRAINING AREA, Bulgaria (June 25, 2015) -- Soldiers from C Co. 3-69 Armor Bn., 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division joined with soldiers from Bulgarian army to conduct Operation Speed and Power on June 24-25, at the Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria.

Operation Speed and Power moved U.S. Army tanks from the European Activity Set in Germany to Bulgaria aboard U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemasters. It culminated with the live-fire exercise.

In addition to the U.S. Army tanks, Speed and Power involved ground and aviation forces from the Bulgarian army.

The training strengthened the partnership and the interoperability between the forces and set the conditions for future combined arms training exercises.

Operation Speed and Power was part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. Operation Atlantic Resolve is a demonstration of continued U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO and to enduring peace and stability in the region, in light of Russia's illegal actions in Ukraine.

Army Europe is leading the Operation Atlantic Resolve enhanced land force multinational training, and security cooperation activities taking place across Eastern Europe. These activities enable multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and visibly demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.

In light of Russia's illegal actions in Ukraine, Operation Atlantic Resolve and Operation Speed and Power are visible demonstrations of U.S. commitment to the security of NATO allies. In meeting our global security commitments, the United States must have strong, committed and capable allies, which is why we have fought, exercised and trained with our European allies for the past 70 years. The U.S.-European strategic partnership is built on a foundation of shared values, experiences and interests in a Europe that is stable and prosperous.
