FORT SILL, Okla. June 25, 2015 -- Soul Track Mind (STM), an Austin, Texas-based band that performs modern soul with a rock blend, will open the Air Force Reserve "Tour for the Troops" concert June 27, here.

The audience will get a high-energy show with a big sound because the seven-piece band includes a horn section, said STM frontman Donovan Keith.

"When we write songs, and perform them they are heartfelt and genuine," Keith said. "Because it is so original and genuine, people connect to it."

STM's sound blends soul, funk and rock with elements of R&B, blues and jazz, and a message of inspiration in the relentless pursuit of dreams, according to the band's website.

Keith said the band was looking forward to playing on post, and it will be the first time STM has played in Oklahoma.

They have performed at military installations in San Antonio.

Keith said his father, Ron was a Vietnam-era Soldier in the signal corps, and his older brother Ron Jr. was a Marine, who fought in the first Gulf War.

Since 2008, STM developed a one-of-a-kind, dance-infused stage show loved by fans, according to the website.

"Aside from showcasing an impressive vocal range and blues-soaked sound, Keith can engage an audience with his unbridled enthusiasm and dance moves," according to Performer Magazine.

STM released its debut album, "Ghost of Soul," in 2010.

Their self-titled second album earned them the summer 2013 cover of Texas Music Magazine and prompted the Huffington Post to declare STM "a cultural exclamation point about American music."

The band's third album, "Unbreakable" (2014), was an evolution and expansion of STM's sound far beyond what the band had done in the past.

STM's song "Remember Me" became a military anthem through a grass roots effort, Keith said.

"We didn't write it for that purpose, but the lyrics of the song really struck a chord with a lot of them (military and family members)," Keith said.

The band worked with one of Keith's filmmaker friends, who wanted to pay tribute to his veteran grandfather.

The filmmaker used STM's "Remember Me" and footage and images sent in by military families for a Veterans Day project. STM will perform "Remember Me" at Fort Sill.

STM band members are: Keith, vocalist; Jonathon Zemek, guitar; Andrew Nolte, keyboards; Dylan Samuel, bass; Michael Ingber, drums; Shane Walden, trumpet; and Michael Culbertson, saxophone.
