Fort Leavenworth Kan. - The Fort Leavenworth Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation program sponsored the Moscow Ballet's "Great Russian Nutcracker," Dec. 2 in the Lewis and Clark Center's Eisenhower Auditorium.

The Lewis and Clark Center is home to the Command and General Staff College and is known as the intellectual center of the Army. On Dec. 2, the auditorium, normally used for military academia, was filled with families waiting to see Russian dancers perform the Russian ballet. The performance sold out to fill the 2,004 seat auditorium.

The original "Nutcracker," with music written by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, was first performed by the Imperial Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dec. 17, 1892.
