SEMBACH, Germany --The 409th Contracting Support Brigade welcomed Col. Douglas S. Lowrey as its new commander during an assumption of command ceremony on Sembach Kaserne here June 5.

Brig. Gen. Michael D. Hoskin, commanding general, Expeditionary Contracting Command, presided over the ceremony.

During his remarks, Hoskin welcomed Lowrey as well as praised the 409th CSB as a top organization with a wide range of missions.

"This job has the potential to be one of the most rewarding you will ever have. I have no doubt that you will do wonders building upon the firm foundation that been laid before you, accompanied by a grade --A team, and I look forward to watching your growth," said Hoskin.

Lowrey took the podium and thanked his family and challenged every member of the 409th CSB to strive for excellence.

"I am extremely excited and honored to be taking command of this prestigious unit, the 409th CSB. Somewhere out there is a Soldier or civilian that is relying upon you and they need your support," said Lowrey.

Some of Lowrey's contracting assignments include deputy chief of staff, Operations G-3 for the U.S. Army Contracting Command; commander, 901st Contingency Contracting Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; executive officer, Expeditionary Contracting Command, Fort Belvoir; and executive officer, Army Contracting Command, Fort Belvoir.

As commander of the 409th CSB, Lowrey will be responsible for two battalions, a theater contracting center and four regional contracting offices across Europe.
