
ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL - Ill. (June 5, 2015) - The Department of the Army has announced that Col. David J. Luders who currently serves as commanding officer of the U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC) has been selected as a faculty member at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala.
The Army also announced that Col. Luders will be replaced as the RIA-JMTC's commanding officer by Col. Donald K. Wols. Prior to being selected as the Arsenal's 48th commander, Col. Wols served as the Deputy Chief of Staff G-4 (Logistics) for the First Army located on Arsenal Island.
"I have been a Soldier my entire adult life and will always answer the call to wherever the nation sends me," Luders remarked. "I have called the Quad Cities home for nearly two years during which I could not have asked for better support from the community. I will truly miss the Quad Cities."
"I know that Col. Wols has had the opportunity to see what a great place the Quad Cities is," Luders said. "I know that he will be a strong advocate for the Arsenal as well as the community."
"The Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center is truly a one-of-a-kind asset to our Nation," Luders explained. "I am proud to say that I was able to command this historic Arsenal with all the great people who support our Warfighters around the world day in, day out. This place will always have a lasting impression on my life."
The change of command is on June 25 at 9:00 a.m. on Arsenal Island.
