Specialist Monica Brown joined the Army when she was 17 because her brother had joined and she didn't want him to be alone. Match that kind of compassion with professional medical training and you begin to understand why she disregarded her own safety and put herself in the direct line of fire to provide life-saving medical attention to fellow Soldiers wounded by an IED. It might also explain why she was awarded one of our Nation's highest honors, the Silver Star.

The Nation's strength starts here.
