Cyber readiness inspection takes place on FH next week

By U.S. ArmyMay 29, 2015

Fort Huachuca, Arizona - The Defense Information Systems Agency, or DISA, will conduct a command cyber readiness inspection, CCRI, at Fort Huachuca Monday through June 5.

The inspection is mandated by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff instruction, CJCSI 6211.02D, targets all installation secure internet protocol router network (SIPRNET) points of presence, and may include military, civilian, contract and visiting personnel.

During the inspection, a DISA readiness-and-security-inspection team will coordinate with the installation's cyber security personnel and visit facilities with SIPRNET presence. The team will validate current accreditations; evaluate enclave and network security as well as all areas of traditional security; perform network-based vulnerability scans; and assess compliance with Department of Defense cyber security policies.

The Network Enterprise Center, NEC, has briefed the senior mission commander as well as tenant organization commanders and directors on the importance of the CCRI. They've described how it relates to SIPRNET security and the roles everyone plays in making the inspection successful.

Lessons learned from other installations are that traditional security areas have had the most critical impact to the outcome of the inspection. Each tenant or organization information management officer, or IMO, has been briefed on what to do beforehand and what to expect while the team is here.

IMOs have received copies of the Cyber Security/Information Security Checklist and Information Assurance Incident Response Checklist. These brochures provide guidance on what users are expected to do during physical security checks and network security incidents. Classified processing areas should have printed copies of these brochures readily available for reference.

Organization leaders at all levels should ensure their Soldiers and employees are aware of and practicing cyber security measures. All removable media must be marked with appropriate classification, especially in a classified area.

For more information, contact your IMO/G6/S6 and/or security manager/G2/S2. If they cannot assist you, call the installation information assurance manager at 520.454.1616.
