GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Service members conducting physical training up Netzaberg hill outside gate 20 can now wear their PT gear, but uniforms off-post during lunch are still prohibited.

Service members can wear their Army PT uniforms from gate 20 on Tower Barracks to the intersection of Henry Kissinger Strasse turn-around point, according to an April 21 memorandum released by Bavaria's General Officer for Force Protection.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Cavoli, commander of 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command, is the General Officer for Force Protection at U.S. Army installations in Bavaria, which include Ansbach, Garmisch, Grafenwoehr, Hohenfels, Illesheim and Vilseck.

Overall, uniform wear off-post is still prohibited, including for dining, with a few exceptions:

• Military uniform wear is authorized for direct vehicle travel between your home and U.S. or host nation installations (and between installations within a garrison) only while traveling via an enclosed private, government or rental vehicle.

• Uniform wear when representing the U.S. military at an official host nation function is authorized.

• Uniform wear while conducting military operations, training events and exercises is authorized.

• DOD personnel in off-installation hotels may wear uniforms when departing or arriving in an enclosed private, government, or rental vehicle.
