JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas -- (May 28, 2015) Two Soldiers from the Mission and Installation Contracting Command are among the eight NCOs vying to become the Army Contracting Command Best Warrior during competition May 28 and 29 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
"These Soldiers are among the best NCOs in MICC and represent the Army profession," said Command Sgt. Maj. Stephen Bowens, the MICC command sergeant major. "They have already demonstrated exceptional performance and leadership at their respective organizations to compete at the ACC level and exemplify the Army's core values."
MICC Soldiers competing at the ACC level competed at their respective unit and higher headquarters levels to represent the command. Representing the 418th Contracting Support Brigade is Staff Sgt. Elijah Felton from the 635th Contracting Team at Fort Bliss, Texas. Sgt. 1st Class Enes Memic from the 743rd Contracting Team at Fort Polk, Louisiana, is representing the 419th CSB.
The competition consists of multiple events in which Soldiers are evaluated. Those include the Army physical fitness test, road march, weapons qualification, warrior task and battle drills, and urban orienteering. Additionally, competitors will have to go before a formal board as well as complete a written test and essay.
NCOs are competing on behalf of each of the ACC's commands, including Headquarters ACC; Expeditionary Contracting Command; MICC; ACC-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; ACC-Redstone; ACC-New Jersey; ACC-Rock Island, Illinois; ACC-Warren, Michigan; and ACC-Orlando, Florida.
Overseeing the competition is Command Sgt. Maj. David Puig, the ACC command sergeant major. ACC officials are expected to announce the winner May 29.
