MIAMI (May 4, 2015) -- The 7th Signal Command (Theater) selected an administrative support specialist assigned to the 525th Signal Company, 56th Signal Battalion as its Junior Civilian of the Year. Barbara C. Hebron, a member of the team for nearly a year and a half, distinguished herself as an instrumental member of the company by her invaluable contributions to the 525th Signal Company's mission in support of U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) Headquarters.
Throughout her tenure, Hebron created an intense Civilian training program that benefited both 525th Signal Company and USSOUTHCOM employees. Working with a myriad of vendors, she facilitated a diverse training program, providing a variety of training opportunities and methods. She worked diligently to provide Thrift Savings Plan training, implemented the use of the Army Career Tracker for preparing individual development plans, and provided one-on-one training sessions to assist employees with annual training.
Hebron consistently worked individually with employees to explain their federal employee benefits, which provides them with the knowledge to make life-changing financial decisions. She set up training by inviting a federal employee benefits specialist to brief the 525th Signal Company and USSOUTHCOM Communications Systems Directorate (J6) employees, increasing their awareness on making better benefit choices.
Hebron also took personal time to help transitioning Soldiers. She reviewed resumes, conducted mock interviews, and provided critical feedback to assist Soldiers successfully transition after the Army. Additionally, Hebron took special care to show Soldiers, Civilians, and their Families the application process through the USAJobs website.
Hebron's selfless service impacted the unit daily and its continued ability to accomplish the mission.
