They are the faces of heroes -- and an opportunity for the Tennessee Valley to pay tribute.

Through the generosity of the Von Braun Center, Team Redstone's Survivor Outreach Services has brought the Remembering Our Fallen exhibit to Huntsville, just in time for Memorial Day. The individual state exhibit, on display now near the VBC's Ticket Office, features both military and personal photos of Alabama service members who have fallen from the War on Terror since 9/11.

"This exhibit produced and created by the 'Remembering Our Fallen' organization is a reminder to people in our community that our state has some heroes that must not be forgotten, who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy our everyday lives and freedoms that we so often take for granted," said Kerrie Branson, SOS coordinator. "And those tragic losses from these heroes that are displayed are felt each and every day by the loved ones that they left behind. I urge people to take their children and family members and teach them about these incredible men and women who fought for their freedoms -- and to even leave notes to their families to remind them that they are not forgotten."

It is the goal of the Remembering Our Fallen organization to create an exhibit for every state by 2016, of which they are a little less than halfway there. Once all states are complete, they will come together for a national tour. Alabama's exhibit, which was unveiled April 18 in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama, will remain in Alabama until the other states are complete, traveling to the hometowns of those featured in the exhibit, as well as other communities.

The exhibit will be on display at the VBC through Memorial Day, after which it will travel to Jasper.
