FORT SILL, Okla. - Last month, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade hosted a Town Hall Meeting at the Sheridan Theater here, to both brief Soldiers and their Families about the unit's upcoming mission and to educate them about the resources the Lawton-Fort Sill Community has to offer.
The event began with an informational exposition for the Soldiers and their Families, with representatives from several agencies that set up booths in the lobby of the theater and provided hand outs and information for the Families.
The formal portion of the event was initiated by a briefing from the battalion leadership and staff in regards to their upcoming mission and what to expect. The brief explained how the mission could impact the Soldiers and their Families, and ways to prepare for the impacts.
"The staff and agencies were very informative and briefed everyone on what they need to know for as little information as we have about the mission," said Sgt. 1st Class Mandrill Demps, a noncommissioned officer assigned to 3-2 ADA. "It was nice to have all the agencies here at one time to answer questions from the Soldiers and their spouses."
Both the Soldiers and their Families benefited from attending the Town Hall meeting, the wide range of agencies there allowed Soldiers and their Families the opportunity to get a better understanding of what resources are available.
"I thought the Town Hall was very informative, the speakers were well spoken, and they answered all questions I had about the deployment," said Alisha Barber, spouse of a 3-2 ADA Soldier. "It was very easy to gather information from all the booths that were set up by the agencies."
The event ended with a question and answer session for the audience and more time to circulate the booths before departing the theater. The information provided by the Town Hall meeting and the knowledgeable representatives helped prepare Soldiers and their Family members for their upcoming mission and the deployment ahead.
Armed with the knowledge of the mission and the resources available to prepare, Soldiers can rest assured that they can deploy with the confidence that their Family members will be ready and resilient.
