JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - Senior Jordanian armed forces (JAF) field artillery officers traveled to Joint Base Lewis-McChord to participate in a 17th Field Artillery Brigade exercise at JBLM and Yakima Training Center (YTC). The training focused on 1st Battalion, 94th Field Artillery Regiment's (FAR) live-fire exercise April 23-26.
The JAF officers, led by Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al Zo'ubi, received a briefing on the brigade's concept of support and training objectives followed by a site orientation of the brigade footprint. Their visit concluded by observing High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) live-fire training at YTC.
After a series of training opportunities between the JAF and the US, the relationship between the two nations continues to strengthen. The US-Jordanian partnership endures and this on-site visit with the 1-94 FAR demonstrated the partnership extends beyond key lender engagements to sharing leadership techniques and operational capabilities with each other.
"We welcomed the Jordanians to get guidelines on HIMARS training and executed the live-fire for their observation. We all train differently. We have seen them train multiple times in their country and we wanted to show them our training procedures," said Sgt. 1st Class Jamar Broom, master gunner, 17th FAB. "We are glad they came to visit because they take good notes and will combine the information together and execute as a team."
"The Jordanians are very open and humble. I would like for them to continue visiting and see how we train as a team," said Spc. Chris Ragsdale, medical specialist, 1st Battalion, 94th FAR.
"We have a good relationship with the JAF," said Sgt. 1st Class Monty Morrow, master gunner, 17th FAB. "We work hard as a team. I'm glad they had the opportunity to see us execute the HIMARS live-fire here at YTC."
"It feels good knowing that they are interested in what we do. The country Jordan is a partner with the United States and is a good partnership in the Middle East. They have the same capability in what we are trying to do here and get an understanding in what we do in YTC," said Sgt. Joshua Farthing, 1-94th FAR noncommissioned officer.
