SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- Schofield Barracks Health Clinic (SBAHC) hosts "Purple Up" event in recognition of month of the military child on April 15, 2015.
Staff members from the Schofield Barracks Health Clinic showed their support for military kids by wearing purple.
Patients were also encouraged to "Purple Up" for all the military children that visit the Health Clinic.
The Children and Family Behavioral Health Services (CAFBHS) at SBAHC also kicked off a drawing to commemorate the month of the military child.
Parents with a child or children currently receiving services at the clinic are invited to participate in a raffle, located in building 688, for the chance to bring home one of three gifts baskets as a small token of appreciation for the littlest members of the Army family.
In 1986, Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberg, declared April as the month of the Military Child.
Since its inception, many organizations have recognized this month in many creative ways to recognize and give thanks to the children of our military service members.
April 15th is known as the day of the month to for people to "Purple Up For Military Kids".
On this day, people are encouraged to wear purple to show support and solidarity with military youth.
Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of the Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue.
Military kids play a vital role in supporting our military Soldiers.
